1972 Triumph Daytona – T100R

Triumph Project

72 Triumph Daytona

I picked up this Triumph through O’Brien Auctioneers at their Mach IV Motors 6th Annual Spring Motorcycle Auction last year. I bought her sight unseen for a great price and once I got her home I began to understand why.

Lets go through the good, the bad and the ugly. Here’s the good, the frame seems solid and the engine turns free and both pistons have good compression.

Now for the bad, there is an immense amount of rust and corrosion on the Exhaust, engine, headlight, and rims.

As for the ugly….the tank was half full with gas, water, and rusty sludge and when I cracked the engine case to drain the fluid the transmission was full of water and sludge.

The bike has been torn down to the frame and the engine has been dissembled and now the fun of restoration begins. I will be documenting each step of the process here in as much detail as we can muster. I hope to see you here as I post updates on our progress.
